Peningkatan Kemampuan Public Speaking Siswa SMK melalui Pelatihan Komunikasi Publik di SMK Gema Karya Bahana Bekasi

Abstract

Public speaking ability is a strategic competency that students need to face challenges in education and work. However, most students at the Vocational High School (SMK) level still have limited public speaking skills, which affects their confidence and communication abilities. This community service activity aims to improve the public speaking skills of SMK Gema Karya Bahana Bekasi students through a public communication training conducted on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 AM. The method used is participatory with an interactive lecture, simulation, and direct practice approach. Data were collected through observation, pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and activity documentation. Analysis was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results show an increase in participants' understanding and confidence in public speaking skills, mastery of confidence-building techniques, and awareness of the importance of public speaking for career and networking. This program has proven effective and has the potential to be sustainably developed in other vocational schools.
