The current dynamics of the labor market require high school graduates especially vocational high school graduates to possess not only technical competencies (hard skills) but also non-technical competencies (soft skills). Among these, effective communication, particularly public speaking, has become an essential skill for academic and professional success.
On April 15, 2026, ten eleventh- and twelfth-grade students from SMK Karya Guna Bakti 2 (KGB 2) Bekasi participated in a campus visit to STIE Tri Bhakti Bekasi. During the visit, the students attended an introductory session on public speaking aimed at enhancing their understanding of effective communication. The activity was followed by a campus tour led by a Tri Bhakti student, introducing the campus environment. This activity is conducted to motivate vocational high school students to pursue higher education.
The program employed a participatory learning approach, beginning with a presentation of the material, followed by interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session. Program evaluation was conducted through participant observation and activity documentation. The results indicated that participants demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the program. They actively engaged in discussions with the speaker and showed greater confidence in expressing their opinions and asking questions during the session.
This initiative is intended to serve as a form of community service, representing a contribution by the higher education institution toward enhancing the quality of human resources at the secondary education level.
